Terms of use

These are the terms for using Krataa: the iPhone app, this website and the waitlist. Krataa is run by an independent developer in the United States. In these terms, "we" means the developer. If you use Krataa, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Krataa is in beta
Krataa is not finished. Features change, things break, and a feature can go away.
Automatic itemizing can misread a receipt. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.
Keep the paper for anything important: a return, a warranty, a tax record. Krataa is your household's own record. It is not proof that a store or a tax office has to accept.
You can take your data out at any time: Account, Export everything.
The beta is delivered through Apple's TestFlight, and Apple's terms for TestFlight apply to it.
Joining the waitlist does not promise you a place or a date.
What Krataa costs
Krataa is free during the beta. It has no ads, and your data is never sold. If any part of Krataa is ever charged for, you will be told before it applies, and you will never be charged without saying yes.
Your account and your household
You sign in with your Apple account. Keep your phone and your Apple account safe.
You must be 18 or older to use Krataa.
Everyone in a household can see everything in it, and can change it wherever the app allows a change. Invite only people you trust with that. You answer for the people you invite.
What is yours
What you add to Krataa is yours: your receipts, your photos, your notes.
You give Krataa permission to store it, to show it to your household, and to process it to do what the app is for, as the privacy policy describes. That includes sending a receipt to the company that itemizes it, if you turned itemizing on, and using your household's prices in Discover, if everyone in your household said yes. Krataa uses it for nothing else.
Add only records that are yours to add.
What you must not do
- Add made up receipts, or change prices, to mislead Discover or other people.
- Add anything that is not a record of spending or income, or anything unlawful.
- Try to reach another household's data, get around a limit, or break or overload the service.
- Take data out of Krataa by automated means, other than your own export.
- Copy, resell or take apart the app, except where the law says you may.
We can suspend or close an account that does any of this. A suspended account's data stays where it is, and the rest of the household is not affected.
What Krataa is not
Krataa is not financial, tax or legal advice.
Return windows, price policies and tax dates shown in Krataa come from what stores and states publish. They can be out of date, or wrong for your purchase. Ask the store before you rely on one.
A price in Discover is what other households paid in a past week. It is not an offer, and a store may charge something else today.
The app's license, and Apple
The app itself is licensed to you under Apple's standard license for apps. These terms add the rules for the service behind it. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Krataa or for supporting it.
No promises, and the limit of what we owe
Krataa is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be accurate, always available or free of errors.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost money or lost data that come from using Krataa, and the most we owe you for any claim is US$50. Some states do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Ending
You can stop using Krataa and close your account at any time.
We can end the beta or stop offering Krataa. If we do, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before where we can, so that you can export your data.
Changes to these terms
The date at the top says when this version took effect. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will say so in the app and on this page at least 14 days before the change applies.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, United States.
